Job summary

Air Liquide Large Industries is seeking a Mechanical Technician for its Geismar, LA site to perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and rotating machinery. You will diagnose issues, perform precise adjustments, document activities in CMMS, and support reliability improvements with operations and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician in industrial or petrochemical environments.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety practices, including LOTO, confined space entry, and hot work permits.
• Demonstrated experience with rotating equipment maintenance (pumps, compressors).
• Knowledge of precision alignment techniques and tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems independently.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and in various weather conditions.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation.

Responsibilities

• Execute preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment including compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, piping, and rotating machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures using blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Perform precise mechanical adjustments, alignments, and overhauls.
• Inspect, lubricate, and replace worn or defective parts.
• Use torque wrenches and alignment tools and diagnostic instruments.
• Adhere to safety protocols, policies, and environmental regulations.
• Document maintenance activities in CMMS.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering to identify reliability improvements.
• Participate in pre-startup safety reviews and risk assessments.
• Assist with commissioning and decommissioning of systems.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns with timely repairs.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on a variety of mechanical equipment, including compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, piping, and rotating machinery.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures and system malfunctions using blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Perform precise mechanical adjustments, alignments, and overhauls.
• Inspect, lubricate, and replace worn or defective parts.
• Utilize specialized tools and equipment for mechanical tasks, such as torque wrenches, alignment tools, and diagnostic instruments.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and environmental regulations.
• Document all maintenance activities accurately in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to identify and implement reliability improvements.
• Participate in pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs) and risk assessments.
• Assist with commissioning and decommissioning of mechanical systems.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide timely repairs to minimize downtime.

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate's degree in Mechanical Technology or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician in an industrial or petrochemical environment.
