Job summary

Chemours in Deepwater, NJ is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join the Maintenance & Reliability team. You will perform maintenance on plant equipment such as pumps, valves, conveyors, and piping, while following safety and environmental regulations and SAP for work orders.

Qualified candidates have an Associate Degree or Journeyman's License with NCCER or related vocational training, 3–5 years in industrial maintenance, and ability to lift 50 pounds and operate PPE including respirators and

  • A relevant field experience is considered.
  • Must lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly and wear PPE as required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant equipment such as pumps, valves, filters, conveyors, and pipework per instructions.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance programs and scheduled maintenance on facilities and equipment.
  • Interpret single-line diagrams and mechanical drawings; troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Clean, lubricate, and inspect moving parts; replace worn components as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols and coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.

This position will report directly to a Maintenance Supervisor at our Deepwater, NJ location.The Chambers Works Plant Mechanical Technician accomplishes, with a minimum of supervision, a wide variety of maintenance assignments. The employee must be able to work overtime, ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs, wear industrial safety equipment; hard hat, gloves (both leather and chemical), hearing protection, FR clothing, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, goggles, respirators, chemical suit, lift 50 lbs., stand on his/her feet for extended periods of time, and be physically flexible including bending, rotating, kneeling.The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:Safely maintain all plant equipment, such as valves, pumps, agitators, fans, conveyors, pipework etc. per oral and written instructionsAssist in the implementation and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, performing scheduled maintenance on facilities and production equipment as requiredInterpret single line diagrams, piping schematics, and mechanical drawingsTroubleshoot and dismantle defective machines/equipment and install new or repaired equipment or partsClean and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinerySafely perform work outdoors during all types of weather conditionsModel appropriate behavior for: Environment, Health & Safety, Project Safety Management, Ethics and Core ValuesKnowledge of safety and environmental regulationsAbility to work flexible schedules including an on-call schedule, evenings, and weekends as neededMust have demonstrated human relations ability to show teamwork and resolving problems together; ability to develop effective working relationships with outside vendors, contractors, and customers, as well as internal personnelEnter information in SAP to manage and complete Maintenance Work OrdersEnsure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areasAdditional information:Applicant must successfully complete a validated aptitude test used in our hiring process and a skills assessment during the interview process.This is a 24/7 facility and will require the ability to work nights, weekends, 12 hr rotating shifts and on-call as neededThis is a tobacco free siteThe following is required for this role:Associate Degree, Journeyman's License, NCCER certification, or successfully completed vocational-tech program directly related to Mechanical Maintenance and Installation.
