Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Mechanical Technician to build and assemble custom automation machinery from engineering drawings for production environments worldwide.

You will install pneumatic plumbing, read comprehensive schematics, and support testing and run-off while traveling to customer sites up to 25% of the time.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with custom equipment in the automation industry.
• Strong ability to read mechanical, pneumatic and electrical drawings.
• Comfortable working under pressure and to deadlines, independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Assemble industrial machines from engineering drawings and customer specs.
• Install pneumatic plumbing including actuators, valves and fittings.

• Attend internal design reviews and feedback into machine design.

We're hiring a Mechanical Technician for a specialist factory automation systems integrator, working on custom automation machinery for production environments across multiple industries.

This is a hands-on build role. You'll be assembling, plumbing, setting up, and commissioning custom automation equipment based on engineering drawings, not just maintaining existing lines.

What you'll be doing:

• Assembling industrial machines based on engineering drawings and customer specs
• Installing pneumatic plumbing including actuators, valves and fittings
• Reading and interpreting mechanical, pneumatic and electrical schematics
• Attending Internal Design Reviews and feeding back into machine design
• Supporting machine acceptance testing and run-off
• Installing and servicing machines at customer sites (approx 10-25% travel, national and international)
• Providing on-site customer training and equipment maintenance support

What you need:

• 7+ years of experience with custom equipment in the automation industry, working on production equipment
• Strong ability to read mechanical, pneumatic and electrical drawings
• Comfortable working under pressure and to deadlines, independently and in teams

Nice to have:

• Electronics manufacturing background
• Exposure to industrial PLCs (Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens, Beckhoff)
• Experience with industrial robots or machine vision applications
