Job summary

ThoughtStorm is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to support the design and development of advanced Nuclear Fuel Handling Systems for next-generation reactor projects. The successful candidate will design these systems from requirements through final design, manage engineering deliverables, and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years of mechanical systems design experience, and direct experience with Nuclear Reactors. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge nuclear technology.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

• Design nuclear fuel handling systems from requirements through final design
• Develop and manage engineering deliverables including:
  • P&IDs
  • Interface Drawings
  • Engineering Design Specifications
  • System Design Descriptions
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities involving:
  • Mechanical
  • Structural
  • Thermal
  • Instrumentation & Controls
• Apply and ensure compliance with industry standards:
  • ASME Section III
  • ASME NQA-1
  • ASTM
  • ANS
  • IEEE
  • NFPA
  • ISO 9001
• Support testing, qualification programs, design reviews, and licensing activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• 10+ years of mechanical systems design experience
• Direct experience with:
  • Nuclear Reactors
  • Complex Mechanical Equipment Design
• Experience with ASME Section III
• Experience working under quality programs such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001
• Strong technical writing, communication, and leadership skills
