Job summary

Matrix Service Company seeks an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to supervise crafts across construction disciplines and support the estimating team. The role emphasizes safety, scheduling, and coordination with multiple departments and contractors on complex projects.

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year engineering degree (or equivalent), 6+ years in similar facilities, and hands-on leadership of craft crews, with strong MS Word/Excel skills and the ability to contribute to cost control

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in similar facilities.
  • 1+ year supervising craft employees.
  • Strong scheduling and cost-control understanding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with basic MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise construction activities and determine methods, safety, manpower, materials, equipment, and schedule.
  • Oversee rotating and static equipment precision.
  • Coordinate work with crafts, departments and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and project drawings.
  • Assist with estimates and proposal development.
  • Conduct field safety audits and document observations.
  • Maintain liaison with HR for manpower requisition.

Job Summary

The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for supervising craft employees assigned to a particular construction discipline work areas and supporting estimating team with estimates.

Essential Functions
  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values".
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics".
  • Plans and supervises work activities. Determines method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documents actual hours worked.
  • Oversee all precision of rotating and static equipment.
  • Coordinates assigned work with different crafts, company departments and/or other contractors.
  • Maintains liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedules.
  • Assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues, as required.
  • supports with estimates and proposal development.
  • Conducts accident investigations with safety department, as required.
  • Maintains communication with the HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower.
  • Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements. Documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintains liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
  • Conducts field safety audits, as required, and maintains a complete understanding of Corporate Safety Manual and requirements.
  • Performs additional responsibilities, as directed.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years' experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures; 1+ years' experience supervising craft employees.
  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control.
  • Ability to supervise large groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to conduct job walks and document thorough, accurate observations.
  • Ability to estimate tasks and work in excel spreadsheets.
