Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking a Mechanical Superintendent to join the Capital Projects team in Houston, TX. The role oversees maintenance and construction crews on site and provides on-site management, planning, and technical guidance to ensure work aligns with design, budget, and schedule.

The ideal candidate has extensive dirt work experience, strong leadership, and a proven track record of safety excellence.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent
  • Ten plus years of dirt work experience; landfill cell construction and closure experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • TWIC is preferred but not required
  • Experience operating heavy yellow iron equipment ( excavators, dozers, off-road trucks)
  • Leadership capabilities/qualities
  • Experience managing people and crews
  • Strong safety performance
  • Communication
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction
  • Basic knowledge of all crafts
  • Advanced knowledge of key crafts onsite (mechanical, planning, safety)
  • Highly developed leadership and mentoring skills
  • Preferred Turner Leadership Training
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen, physical evaluation and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
  • Compliance with safety requirements
  • Must not pose a direct threat to health or safety

Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance and/or construction efforts to meet design, budget, and schedule
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions including scheduling, engineering, and material control
  • Provide technical assistance and interpret drawings as required
  • Assist project management in developing and implementing procedures and standards
  • Enforce safety regulations and company policies on site
  • Develop or update policies with management approval
  • Ensure productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contract performance
  • Communicate policies to workers and resolve on-site issues
  • Modify work sequences to meet construction schedule
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

MechanicalSuperintendent

We are hiring a MechanicalSuperintendent to join our Capital Projects team in Houston, TX. The Superintendent position schedules, coordinates and supervises the activities of maintenance and construction workers and provides overall on-site administrative and technical management on maintenance or construction sites. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Site Manager or Project Manager; Establishes procedures for specific goals in a broad area of work / only results are reviewed / develops procedures within limits of policy and guidelines.

Functional Requirements:

Supervises total maintenance and/or construction effort to ensure project is constructed and/or maintained in accordance with design, budget, and schedule (includes interfacing with client representatives); plans, coordinates, and supervises on-site functions including scheduling, engineering, material control, etc.; provides technical assistance, such as interpretation of drawings, as required; assists project management in developing and implementing project procedures, standards, etc.; ensures all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, company standards, etc.; creates new policies and procedures or updates existing policies with plant or project management approvals; documents all violations, notifies project management, and recommends/implements corrective actions as required; assumes responsibility for productivity of employees, efficient use of materials and equipment and contractual performance of the job; interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations; analyzes and resolves work related problems; establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Compensation:

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:
