Job summary

Acara Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Fremont, CA for a contract role within the Global Products Group. You will design and develop mechanical and electro‑mechanical systems powering advanced semiconductor equipment, taking concepts through productization.

You'll create 3D CAD models in Siemens NX, run structural and thermal analyses, lead design reviews, and support RCCA/FMEA activities while mentoring junior engineers in a cross‑functional team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years mechanical engineering experience (or 6+ with Master's).
• 5+ years using Siemens NX for 3D CAD design and modeling.
• 5+ years performing mechanical, thermal, structural, or heat transfer analyses.

Responsibilities

• Support the full lifecycle of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems from concept through productization.
• Create detailed 3D CAD designs and models using Siemens NX.
• Design components using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings.
• Perform structural, thermal, stress, vibration, fluid and manufacturability analyses.
• Develop feasibility studies, qualification testing, and validation plans.
• Lead design reviews and communicate findings through reports and presentations.

• Support the full lifecycle of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems from concept through productization

• Ensure compliance with SEMI standards, Lam standards, and GD&T best practices
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to optimize manufacturability, quality, and cost
• Lead design reviews and communicate technical findings through reports and presentations
• Conduct RCCA investigations, FMEA reviews, risk assessments, and technical problem-solving activities
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

What You’ll Bring:

• 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years of experience with a Master's degree
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• 5+ years of experience using Siemens NX for 3D CAD design and modeling
• 5+ years of experience performing mechanical, thermal, structural, or heat transfer analysis

What Sets You Apart:

• Experience designing semiconductor manufacturing equipment or subsystems
• Demonstrated hands-on engineering, design, testing, and product development experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical presentations
• Experience with vacuum system design and high-voltage RF environments
• Deep understanding of heat transfer and thermal management principles
• Experience conducting Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations
• Experience leading Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities
• Proficiency with MATLAB and Simulink
• Experience leading engineering projects while managing multiple priorities
• Strong understanding of GD&T, manufacturability, and industry engineering standards
• Ability to facilitate technical brainstorming and cross-functional problem-solving sessions
