Mechanical & Reliability Engineer – Cooper River Plant, Moncks Corner, SC

The Cooper River Plant in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, operates on the banks of the Cooper River and manufactures materials used in machinery, aerospace and automotive industries.
Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day technical expertise and reliability support for plant equipment.
- Work with multi‑disciplined teams to execute projects and solve reliability and availability losses.
- Provide mechanical engineering expertise for plant equipment and infrastructure.
- Identify, develop scope, front‑end load, and lead minor and medium capital improvement projects, and deliver the mechanical portion of major capital improvement projects.
- Develop and manage reliability programs, including specific work procedures and preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Participate in the facilitation and implementation of the Root Cause Investigation process, applying cause‑and‑effect methodology.
- Evaluate and quantify the impact of projects such as equipment reconfigurations, design changes, or equipment quality on customer needs.
- Validate the impact of corrective actions affecting availability/reliability and leverage solutions across the business or site.
- Provide equipment reliability and performance data to technical resource networks for evaluation of equipment, vendor performance, and modifications.
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of applicable experience with knowledge of equipment selection/specification, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of P&I and equipment diagrams.
- Process Safety Management (PSM) knowledge and a commitment to safety rules and procedures.
- Knowledge of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Six Sigma, or other reliability analytical problem‑solving tools.
- Machine safety experience preferred.
- Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self‑motivated with great attention to detail and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to provide training to operators and mechanics.
- Ability to learn and work independently and collaboratively with operators, mechanics, engineers of various disciplines, management, and leaders.
