Job summary

S&C Electric is seeking a Mechanical Quality Technologist in Palatine, IL. You will inspect and test mechanical assemblies and parts to ensure they meet quality standards, interpret drawings and BOMs, and document inspection results.

The role requires 3+ years in manufacturing, strong mechanical skills, and familiarity with ISO 9001. You’ll work on a manufacturing floor with hands-on testing equipment and collaborate with production teams to drive quality improvements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience, such as assembly.
• Sound understanding of mechanical systems; able to troubleshoot.
• Understanding of part drawings, Bills of Materials, Sales Orders, & technical documents.
• Good understanding of ISO 9001.
• Proficiency with hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
• Good shop math and ability to calculate measurements.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work with multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of mechanical subassemblies, final assemblies, and fixtures to ensure product specs and quality.
• Verify correct assembly and tolerances meet criteria.
• Interpret drawings, BOMs, and technical docs for compliance with design/production standards.
• Record, document inspection results, and initiate corrective action as needed.
• Maintain and calibrate mechanical testing equipment; ensure proper operation.
• Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and improve processes.
• Develop and improve testing procedures based on findings and feedback.
• Follow ISO 9001 standards daily and maintain inspection logs.
