Job summary

CBC is seeking an experienced Mechanical QA/QC professional to join the on-site Quality Department for a large-scale data center construction project near Childress, Texas. The role focuses on field quality oversight for installation, inspection, testing, and turnover of critical mechanical systems.

You will collaborate with the QA Manager, MEP team, commissioning, engineering, and client representatives to ensure conformance with project documents, codes, and standards, while proactively

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' construction QA/QC experience.
  • Proven experience as structural engineer, erector, and/or inspector.
  • Concrete pre-install, install, and/or inspection experience preferred.
  • Site and architectural installation and/or inspection experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of field management software (BIM360 Field, Procore, Latista).

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily QA/QC surveillance and inspections across disciplines.
  • Verify mechanical and other installations comply with drawings, submittals, RFIs, and codes.
  • Review Quality Plans, ITPs, and inspection checklists.
  • Participate in pre-installation and First Work inspections.
  • Inspect work before concealment, testing, and commissioning.
  • Document deficiencies and manage punch-list items.
  • Coordinate corrective actions and final closures with trades.
  • Support commissioning readiness and turnover document control.
  • Assist QA Manager with quality reporting and metrics.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical QA/QC professional to join the on-site Quality Department for a large-scale data center construction project near Childress, Texas.

The Mechanical QA/QC will provide field quality oversight for the installation, inspection, testing, commissioning readiness, and turnover of critical mechanical systems supporting the data center.

This position will work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager, MEP/Mechanical Construction Team, Commissioning Team, Engineering, Client Representatives, Trade Contractors, Vendors, and Equipment Manufacturers to ensure mechanical installations meet project specifications, approved construction documents, applicable codes and standards, manufacturer requirements, and project quality expectations.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical field experience, understands mission-critical construction, and takes a proactive approach to identifying and preventing quality issues before they impact testing, commissioning, schedule, or turnover.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily QA/QC surveillance and inspections of (electrical, mechanical, utilities, civil/architectural/structural, commissioning, etc.)
  • Verify mechanical installations comply with IFC drawings, specifications, approved submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, manufacturer requirements, applicable codes and project standards.
  • Review mechanical contractor Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), inspection checklists, and supporting quality documentation.
  • Participate in pre-installation, preparatory, and First Work / First-in-Place inspections.
  • Inspect mechanical work prior to concealment, insulation, pressure testing, startup, and commissioning.
  • Identify and document quality deficiencies, observations, punch-list items, and nonconforming work.
  • Coordinate corrective actions with trade contractors and verify deficiencies through final closure.
  • Perform mechanical system walkdowns and support Mechanical Completion and commissioning readiness.
  • Coordinate inspections with contractors, third-party inspectors, commissioning personnel, engineering, and project leadership.
  • Participate in QA/QC meetings, mechanical coordination meetings, commissioning meetings, and quality walks.
  • Review and maintain mechanical inspection and turnover documentation.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Manager with quality reporting, metrics, trends, Lessons Learned, and contractor quality performance.
Qualifications:

Professional Experience and Education

  • Minimum 5 years' construction QA/QC experience.
  • Proven experience Structural engineer, erector, and/or inspection experience.
  • Concrete pre-install, install, and/or inspection experience is preferred.
  • Site and architectural installation and/or inspection experience is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of and competency in Field Management Software (BIM360 Field, Procore, Latista, etc.)
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor of science in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering, construction management or equivalent degree and/or equivalent craft level work experience.
Position Related Skills
  • A strong commitment to quality compliance with OSHA standards and site-specific requirements.
  • Ability to work closely with trade and craft people in a field work situation. Patience and professionalism are essential to being able to maintain a cooperative attitude through pressure situations.
  • Ability to manage several work activities at once while frequently interrupted by phone calls and urgent questions on work in progress.
  • Advanced visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to work closely with clients, architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Must be a dedicated team player, self-starter, flexible and able to work well with a variety of personalities and minimal instruction. Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations is required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
Pay and Benefits

$150,000 - $175,000
