ARCO in Downers Grove, IL, seeks a Mechanical Project Manager for the Summer of 2027. The role blends engineering with project management, covering estimates, scheduling, design review, and on-site coordination with owners and the design team.

You will participate in proposal meetings, help draft preliminary drawings, and assist in managing subcontractors. Applicants must be enrolled in ME/CM/Arch Eng programs, graduating 2026–2027, with a 3.2 GPA; internship or extracurriculars a plus.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s of Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or related program.
• Graduating in 2026-2027 school year.
• Minimum GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0.
• Prior construction internship experience is a plus.
• Extracurricular involvement is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for managerial and administrative aspects of a project, including estimating, scheduling, quality control, progress reports, progress billing, design review and coordination, cost reporting, safety, and proposal preparation
• Ensure an accurate and complete project estimate
• Work closely with owners and the design team to develop preliminary concept drawings
• Participate in the proposal meeting with the owner to review the scope of work, discuss ways to reduce costs, and provide value engineering ideas
• Oversee the buyout process and the selection of subcontractors
• Conduct bi-weekly job site meetings
• Make sound decisions under tight deadlines
• Organize, plan and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results
• Commit to quality by evaluating project-related processes
• Make necessary changes, use customer input to make improvements, and meet/exceed internal and external client expectations
• Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and other associates, while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations

A Day in the Life:

Total compensation for the Project Manager role ranges from $84,000.00 to $95,000.00, depending on location, previous experience, and more. Total compensation includes the base salary, benefits, and eligible discretionary bonuses based on individual and company performance.
