About Formlabs:A 3D printer is one of the most demanding machines you can build.Lasers, optics, precision motion, thermals, airflow, materials handling, chemistry, sensing, controls, and software all have to work at micron-scale precision, for thousands of layers, with almost no tolerance for error. Making that work reliably is an extraordinary engineering problem. That's what we do.At Formlabs, we're building 3D printers that are changing the way things get made. We have the smartest minds across every engineering discipline, and the technology they're building is deployed at more than 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA.Your Impact:The Mechanical Project Manager makes sure our prototyping and development process is efficient and executed firmly. At Formlabs we're constantly iterating on our products and building new prototypes. As the engineering project manager you'll work with the mechanical engineering team and the engineering team broadly to bring these prototypes to life and once they're built to make sure they're being maintained and used effectively. You'll also work closely with the mechanical engineering team to support the complexities of developing hardware such as managing BOMs, inventory and product configurations. This is a role that benefits from energizing your peers and has high visibility as your results are our highly coveted prototype products. What You'll Do:Be the glue to pull disparate teams together to hit key milestones and goals through the product development processManage (in conjunction with the G$ team) the Bill of Materials for our products making sure it is up to date and usable for ordering, cost analysis and useful for tracking development status.Push ECOs through the release process and make sure they're implemented in a controlled manner.Develop spaces for builds including workspace, tools, shelving for inventory and finished goodsManage inventory for prototype and integration builds including receiving parts, managing incoming quality control, stocking parts and prepping for builds.Make sure that prototype builds happen smoothly and as quickly as possible. Run daily standups or other methods of work tracking and motivation to make sure builds remain unblocked.Organize and plan work. Motivate team members. Track progress and issues. Communicate with stakeholders and close out issues.Manage the configuration of our fleet of prototype printers. Maintain an up to date inventory of prototype printers, their configuration, status and use. Ensure that reworks and retrofits happen quickly and successfully.Improve processes across mechanical engineering to support the smooth development of productsBroadly support the mechanical engineering team and mechanical engineering manager as project manager embedded in that teamAbout You:Demonstrates motivation to bring amazing products to life by pushing yourself, your peers and the development process forwardConsistent and organized to make sure we're doing everything we can to succeedReady to get your hands dirty filling gaps and leading by exampleCan jump between organizing data to organizing people and back during the course of a dayA working knowledge of technical documentation and the desire to keep learning in this areaBuild bridges between team leads and key doers on teams to quickly solve problems and blockagesBonus Skills:Depth in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or integration softwareData analysis and spreadsheet wizardryExperience with PLM systemsOur Perks & Benefits:Unlimited 3D printing with any Formlabs material on any Formlabs printerAn equity program that will let you build wealth through RSUsHealthcare coverage (medical, dental, vision) that includes a totally free employee-only plan, effective starting on your first day on the job401K matching with no vesting or tenure requirementGenerous parental leave (fully paid up to 16 weeks)Flexible time off so you can take time when you need itSix-week fully paid sabbatical after hitting tenure milestones (with the option to take an additional six weeks after that)Free on-site parking & pre-tax commuter benefitsFree on-site lunch, snacks, beverages, treats, beer kegs, and employee-favorite local coffee and espressoSelf-driven professional development opportunities like conferences, trade shows, and hackathonsOne-of-a-kind activities and events like monthly socials, the annual weekend summer camp, a can't-miss company hackathon, and lots of other social opportunitiesYou don't need to check every box to apply for a role.
