Job summary

Johnsonville, LLC has an exciting 8-month Mechanical / Project Engineer Co-op in 2026. The successful candidate will join the Engineering Team at the Tech Center in Sheboygan Falls, WI, starting January 4, 2027, or May 24, 2027.

You will contribute to world-class food engineering projects and learn by doing in a team-based environment. As a co-op, you’ll apply your knowledge to improve safety, quality and productivity while gaining cross-functional exposure and hands-on experience in

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering/Technology; juniors/seniors preferred.
• Minimum 2.7 overall GPA and 3.0 in core concentration.
• Willing to travel to other Johnsonville facilities and work off hours.
• Eligible to work in the United States for this job location.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to projects improving safety, quality and efficiency.
• Learn Johnsonville's world-class engineering practices in robotics, control systems.
• Assist project automation and design with new implementations.
• Work with cross-functional project teams supporting customers of the engineering team.
• Develop Project Vision, Objective(s), Scope, Timelines and Deliverables.

Position Overview

Johnsonville, LLC has an exciting opportunity for an 8‑month Mechanical / Project Engineer Co‑op in 2026. The successful candidate for the Mechanical / Project Engineer Co‑op position will become an integral member of the Johnsonville Engineering Team, which provides solutions viewed as World Class in the food industry! We have opportunities for engineering co‑op students starting on January 4, 2027, or May 24, 2027.

Responsibilities

• You will learn to lead and contribute to the success of great projects that will benefit the safety, quality and efficiency at various production locations.
• Johnsonville is a world leader in food engineering from robotics, control systems, and patents.
• You’ll have the opportunity to stretch professionally and personally every day and put your knowledge to use!
• This co‑op will provide you with the opportunity to learn and apply creative out of the box problem solving techniques.
• You’ll gain grass roots experience and learn the engineering behind manufacturing.
• Apply engineering skills while leading/supporting projects geared to improve human safety, food safety, quality, capacity expansion, and productivity.
• Learn aspects of the sausage/meat business.
• Develop Project Vision, Objective(s), Scope, Timelines and Deliverables.
• Assist project automation and design engineers with new project implementations.
• Work with cross‑functional project teams supporting customers of the engineering team.
• Learn how ideas go from concept to implementation in a manufacturing environment.
  

Education

• Candidate must currently be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical Engineering/Technology or a related field. Junior or senior status preferred.
• Minimum 2.70 overall GPA and a 3.0 GPA in their core concentration required.

Experience

• Prior work experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project, (AutoCAD or Solidworks is a plus)
