Qualifications

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering fields or 5 years experience.
  • Experience in project administration, scheduling, cost control, and procurement needed.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Project estimating and scheduling, managing RFIs and submittal packages.

Job description
Summary
Our client is currently seeking individuals for a full-time position as a Mechanical Project Engineer located in the San Diego, CA area. Backed by nearly a century of customer care and ownership, our client adheres to the highest safety standards for its employees and clients. They offer industry-leading building information modeling (BIM) capabilities, design/build services, sustainable solutions, commercial HVAC services, and complex mechanical and industrial system installations.
Responsibilities
  1. Project Estimating (Take-Off & Analysis)
  2. Project Scheduling (Manpower scheduling)
  3. Manage RFIs (Requests for Information)
  4. Prepare Submittal Packages
  5. Manage flow of contractor-provided submittal data
  6. Assist in data population of forms
  7. Prepare project progress billings
  8. Assist in technical analysis, troubleshooting, and problem solving of HVAC air equipment, HVAC piping equipment systems, HVAC & plumbing equipment
Skills and Experience
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC & plumbing design & system operation
  • Basic working knowledge of commercial & industrial construction sequences
  • Basic working knowledge of construction estimating
  • Basic working knowledge of testing procedures for HVAC systems
  • Basic working knowledge of ASHRAE data & guidelines
  • Average proficiency with MS Project scheduling program
  • Average proficiency with MS Access or other database programs
  • Above average proficiency with MS Excel & Word
  • Above average proficiency with internet research
  • Above average verbal & writing skills
  • Above average organizational skills in handling & archiving technical data
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, other engineering disciplines (Civil, Industrial, or Structural), or 5 years of industry experience as a Construction Project Engineer. Candidates should demonstrate experience with project administration, project scheduling, productivity analysis, project cost control, and procurement of equipment & materials.
