Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to lead the technical delivery of assigned projects from a Jacksonville, FL office. You will coordinate engineering execution, ensure code compliance, and mentor junior engineers while driving process improvements and on-time project completion.

You will work with customers and stakeholders, review calculations, and sign/ seal critical deliverables. A PE license and strong HVAC/mechanical know-how are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required.
• 4+ years of progressive engineering experience aligned with technical execution and project delivery.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards.

Responsibilities

Summary

The Mechanical Project Engineer owns the technical delivery of assigned projects, serving as the primary technical resource accountable for the accuracy, quality, and completeness of all engineering work products. Operating with a high degree of independence, this role coordinates engineering execution, manages multiple projects simultaneously, engages directly with customers and stakeholders, and ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company practices. The Project Engineer mentors junior engineers and plays a key role in driving process improvements, representing a critical step in the progression toward senior technical and leadership positions.

Primary Duties

Technical Execution & Accountability

• Own the technical execution, accuracy, and quality of engineering deliverables for assigned projects


• Perform and review engineering calculations, specifications, and construction documents


• Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and internal quality requirements


• Serve as a technical problem-solver for complex or non-standard design challenges


• Sign and seal work as required

Project Ownership & Delivery

• Manage engineering workflow and technical deliverables across assigned projects


• Drive schedule planning and forecasting in coordination with Project Managers and operations


• Track project progress, deliverables, and milestones to support on-time delivery


• Coordinate engineering scope and priorities with internal stakeholders

Customer & External Interaction

• Participate in and lead technical discussions with customers, partners, and consultants


• Manage external correspondence with customers, trade partners, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)


• Support customer meetings by providing technical expertise and solutions

Quality, Risk & Compliance

• Enforce quality control standards and conduct technical reviews


• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks and constructability issues


• Support delegated contract review and technical risk evaluation

Mentorship & Process Improvement

• Mentor and guide Staff and Associate Engineers


• Support knowledge transfer, documentation, and training efforts


• Implement process improvements, tools, and workflow enhancements

General Responsibilities

QualificationsKnowledge:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required


• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required


• 4+ years of progressive engineering experience that directly aligns with the technical execution, project delivery, and responsibilities of this role


• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards


• Thorough understanding of project workflows and schedules


• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite


• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and engineering systems
