Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer/Applications Engineer in Dallas, TX, to design, size, select, and quote custom industrial equipment systems. The role emphasizes pumps, piping, valves, controls, and VFDs, from concept through handoff, with frequent customer and vendor interaction.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering background, experience with pumps and fluid systems, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred (other engineering degrees considered).
• Experience with pumps, piping, valves, controls, and VFDs.
• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and engineering calculations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer specifications, project scopes, and technical requirements.
• Develop preliminary equipment designs and engineering solutions.
• Perform engineering calculations related to fluid mechanics, flow, pressure, and system performance.
• Size and select pumps, valves, piping components, controls, and VFDs.
• Prepare project quotations, cost estimates, and pricing proposals.
• Work closely with vendors on component selection, pricing, and technical application.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers during early project stages.
• Support the sales team with technical input during meetings and proposals.
• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and project management teams for project execution.
• Create and maintain project documentation and technical reports.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges while ensuring standards compliance.
• Utilize Excel and engineering tools to analyze data and improve processes.
