Job summary

Google in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Mechanical Product Design Engineer to design and optimize platform-level hardware across the chip to chiller spectrum. You will own the product design lifecycle from concept to manufacturing release and mentor peers.

Minimum qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1 year of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.

  • 1 year of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.


Preferred qualifications:


  • 6 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis.

  • Experience in mechanical engineering and design principles with specific expertise in the areas of design for medium-scale production, sheet metal and injection molding, structural and thermal analysis.

  • Experience in designing electro-mechanical assemblies with an understanding of mechanical tolerances and tolerance analysis.

  • Knowledge of chip, socket, cooling solution stack-ups, structural behavior, and reliability.

  • Ability to architect solutions backed by business case analysis.

As a Mechanical Engineer you design and evaluate our data center systems, identifying product requirements and contributing to research and project planning. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Influence the products by providing mechanical and product design engineering expertise into the technology road-map with data-driven decisions. Identify and scope projects around innovation opportunities as well as technology risks.

  • Provide engineering knowledge and mentor team members.
