Job summary

Daimler Truck North America LLC. is seeking a Mechanical Product Design Engineer II to lead and support powertrain component development in Detroit.

You will drive DVP&Rs for clutches, transmissions, and axles, analyze data, plan tests, and collaborate with global teams to ensure reliable, efficient powertrain systems. The role requires a mechanical engineering degree with hands-on experience in powertrain components, MATLAB/CANape skills, and the ability to travel up to 15%.

Qualifications

  • BS in mechanical engineering with 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • 2+ years in specialization powertrain components and related technical skillset.
  • 2+ years of transmission and axle development experience.
  • 3+ years of software/technical experience using MATLAB and CANape.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage DVP&Rs for clutch and transmission development programs.
  • Analyze data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Align, plan and support the execution of clutch, transmission, axle and PT system tests.
  • Evaluate efficiency and lifetime reliability of aggregates.

Our scope includes research and development of transmissions, axles, fluids, and electronic components. Our team specializes in the validation of transmissions, (e)Axles, and their associated fluids.
