Job summary

Amsted Rail is seeking skilled maintenance professionals in manufacturing to install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair mechanical piping systems. You will interpret blueprints to route pipes, lay out and cut systems, and build from drawings or verbal directions.

You will repair valves, regulators, and traps, service boilers and high-pressure hydraulics, and assess salvage vs scrap decisions while collaborating with other crafts. Overtime and rotations are expected.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Skills assessment required.
  • Willing and able to work shifts and rotating schedules, with daily/weekend overtime and call-outs for repairs, downtime reduction, preventive maintenance, and root cause analysis.
  • Minimum 4 years in manufacturing and/or heavy industrial skilled trades.

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair mechanical piping systems.
  • Interpret blueprints to select pipe types and plan optimal routing and installation methods.
  • Lay out, cut, and build systems of pipes, valves, traps, regulators, and related hardware from drawings or verbal direction.
  • Repair and maintain all varieties of valves, regulators, and traps.
  • Maintain high-pressure hydraulics; service boilers, associated piping/accessories, steam-jacketed pressure vessels, the sewage plant and clarifier, and linseed/hydraulic oil separators.
  • Make sound salvage-versus-scrap judgments for components pulled from service.
  • Pitch in with other maintenance crafts to get the job done.
