Job summary

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. The project requires field engineers to provide execution expertise in piping, field management, and QA/QC support across the site.

You will work with superintendents and craft crews to ensure safety, quality and timely turnover of piping scopes, develop work packages, and coordinate with engineering and procurement to meet milestones.

Qualifications

  • Understand mechanical piping systems, connections and components.
  • Read and interpret Isometrics, P&IDs, orthographics, plans and drawings.
  • Familiar with ASME B31.3 code and field inspection requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to piping superintendents and craft crews.
  • Implement ES&H and quality control programs on the project.
  • Execute Inspection & Test Plans for major piping activities.
  • Inspect field installations and complete documentation; verify P&ID checks prior to turnover.
  • Develop piping work packages with supervision; coordinate field changes.
  • Prepare field change and as-built documentation as required.
  • Interpret design drawings and interface with engineering to resolve issues.
  • Develop pressure test packages; witness, verify and accept tests.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure drawings/spec compliance.
  • Support procurement expediting to secure vendor material delivery.
  • Use TEAMWorks and Xfighters to verify data from engineering.
  • Ensure proper storage of materials for environmental protection.
  • Complete material receipt inspections and assist with estimates.
  • Collaborate with other discipline engineers to meet project requirements.

Project Overview

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers.

Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline

Job Summary

In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Applicant will work closely with superintendents and direct hire craft to ensure full compliance of assigned scope of work.

Major Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to the piping superintendents and crafts.
  • Implementation of the project ES&H program and quality control program.
  • Implement Inspection and Test Plans for major piping activities.
  • Inspection of field installations and completion of associated documentation on a continuing basis, and complete the final P&ID checks prior to turnover.
  • Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting for all piping quantities.
  • Assist supervision and project controls in the preparation of detailed work plans and short-term schedules.
  • Responsible for the development of piping work packages in conjunction with supervision.
  • Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.
  • Interpret design drawings and interface with engineering office to resolve design and constructability issues.
  • Responsible for the development of pressure test packages and responsible for witnessing and verifying and acceptance.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare material requisitions, coordinate and review vendor drawings.
  • Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure the delivery of vendor materials to support the project schedule.
  • Work within TEAMWorks and Xfighters to verify accurate data from engineering and suppliers.
  • Ensure that materials are stored properly to ensure environmental protection.
  • Complete material receipt inspections as required. Assist with preparation of construction estimates.
  • Work closely with other discipline field engineers and coordinate efforts and activities to meet the project requirements.
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Intermediate level of understanding of mechanical piping systems, connections, and components.
  • Ability to read and understand Isometrics, P&ID’s, orthographics, plans, and other design drawings.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.3 code
  • Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities:extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces.
  • Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, be complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
  • Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards is required. Excellent communication and problem solving ability.
