Job summary

Fluor Corporation in the United States is seeking a senior cost estimator in mining EPC to develop and manage cost estimates for material, labor and subcontract work. You will coordinate with engineering, procurement and construction teams to ensure accurate, timely estimates and staying aligned with project scope.

The role requires a mechanical engineering degree and 10–15 years in EPC/mining environments, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in Excel and estimating tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality cost estimates for material, labor and subcontract works.
• Prepare estimate execution plan, basis of estimate, and management review package.
• Coordinate with Estimating, Engineering, Procurement/Supply Chain and Construction groups.
• Perform scope/quantity reviews and participate in client interface as needed.
• Maintain estimating data, schedules, and conduct peer reviews.

Understands the technical parameters and specifications of mechanical equipment & packages and piping, required for developing the cost estimates. Understands the piping material take offs/bill of quantities/sized mechanical equipment list. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Responsible for personal safety as well as the safety of co-workers. Adhere to and support Fluor’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability PoliciesCoordinates information exchange among Estimating, Engineering, Procurement/Supply Chain and Construction groupsDevelops and provides high-quality cost estimates for material, labor and subcontract works to upper-level estimator/lead estimator in a timely manner.Prepares estimate execution plan, basis of estimate and management review packageParticipates in scope & quantity reviews and management reviews of cost estimatesSkillfully utilizes estimating methods and the expertise of other project professionals to establish total project estimates. Seasoned expertise is required to ensure that all pertinent information is updated in relation to the present scope of work. This position may require direct interface with the client. This position requires direct contact with all required functional areasEstablishes and maintains local estimating information such as escalation indices, rate of exchange variation, productivity, etc.Prepares the estimate analysis within the mechanical and piping disciplinesPrepares discipline Change Order EstimatesConsults with others for developing home office costs, indirect field costs, escalation, cost contingency and other costsAssists in historical data retrieval, updating, and maintenance (unit rates, installation hours etc.)Analyze and solve problems as they occurTakes responsibility for self-checking the accuracy of own work and that of subordinates, if applicableDevelops and maintains estimating schedulesProviding proposal supportMaintains established Estimating Systems, Procedures, and ManualsFamiliar with the use and purpose of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), utilize assigned WBS in developing the cost estimatesPerform peer review of estimate when assignedAct autonomously on mid-sized projectsBasic Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical EngineeringTotal 10-15 years’ experience in Consulting/Engineering (EPC environment) with minimum 8-10 years’ experience in mining projects.Other Job RequirementsGood communication skillsStrong Analytical skillsQuick learning skills for estimating tools, practices & proceduresGood interpersonal & teamwork skillsGood Computer skills (especially good MS Excel skills)Preferred QualificationsWork experience in Mining sector/Mining projects.To be Considered Candidates:Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located.We are an equal opportunity employer.
