Job summary

Vector Talent Solutions is seeking a Mechanical / Pipe Field Inspector for a client in the construction industry. The role provides field inspection support for mechanical and piping systems, ensuring compliance with project drawings, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.

The inspector will review drawings, verify HVAC, plumbing rough-ins, and witness tests, while coordinating with subcontractors and project teams to support turnover and readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and plumbing drawings, isometrics, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Working knowledge of pipe installation methods, plumbing systems, HVAC systems, and applicable code requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively with contractors, project teams, and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect piping installations, joints, supports, and routing to verify compliance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Review and interpret mechanical and plumbing drawings, isometrics, specifications, and construction documents to ensure installation accuracy.
  • Verify HVAC equipment, ductwork, plumbing rough-in, and finish installations meet design and quality requirements.
  • Witness and document pressure tests, leak tests, flushing procedures, and other required system testing activities before project closeout and turnover.
  • Document inspection findings, deficiencies, corrective actions, and daily field observations using quality control procedures.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, superintendents, engineers, and quality personnel to schedule inspections and support system startup readiness.
  • Track punch-list items and verify completion of corrective actions prior to turnover.
  • Maintain organized inspection records, technical logs, testing documentation, and project quality files.
  • Support project teams in identifying and resolving installation issues while maintaining compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Perform additional inspection and reporting duties as assigned.

Vector Talent Solutions is a veteran-owned workforce solutions firm dedicated to helping organizations identify, attract, and hire top talent. We are currently seeking a Mechanical / Pipe Field Inspector for a client in the construction industry.

The Mechanical / Pipe Field Inspector will provide field inspection support for mechanical and piping systems, ensuring plumbing, HVAC, process piping, and utility piping installations comply with project drawings, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes. This role works closely with project management, quality teams, subcontractors, and field personnel to support successful project execution, system testing, and project turnover.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect piping installations, joints, supports, and routing to verify compliance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable mechanical and plumbing codes.
  • Review and interpret mechanical and plumbing drawings, isometrics, specifications, and construction documents to ensure installation accuracy.
  • Verify HVAC equipment, ductwork, plumbing rough-in, and finish installations meet design and quality requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of mechanical/piping inspection, quality control, field engineering, or related construction experience.
  • EIT, ICC Mechanical or Plumbing Inspector Certification, Journeyman Plumber License, or Pipefitter License preferred.
  • Experience supporting commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or large-scale construction projects.
Work Environment

This position is primarily based in active construction project environments and may require frequent field inspections, work in mechanical rooms, trenches, and confined spaces, as well as exposure to varying site conditions. Limited office work will be required for reporting, documentation, and project coordination.
