Job summary

Nestlé S.A. in St. Louis is seeking a Mechanical Packaging Associate to provide technical packaging support, lead concept development for systems, and collaborate with R&D, production, and marketing to align designs with product specs and branding.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ months of mechanical packaging experience or relevant internship experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of mechanical packaging experience or relevant internship experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments; travel 50-60%.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop packaging systems to ensure reliability and innovation that meet operational objectives with a direct impact on department results.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyze package performance through testing and simulations.
  • Collaborate with Research and Development (R&D), production, and marketing teams to align packaging designs with product specifications and branding requirements.
  • Evaluate packaging materials and processes, emphasizing sustainability and operational efficiency, including life cycle assessments.
  • Implement cost-reduction initiatives by assessing existing packaging designs and identifying opportunities for enhancements.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot packaging machinery and processes within manufacturing facilities, influencing internal contacts through clear communication of facts, policies, and practices.

As a Mechanical Packaging Associate, you’ll provide technical assistance in packaging processes. With a focus on mechanical packaging technology, you’ll offer technical assistance and contribute to large, complex projects, from concept development.

*Position requires 50-60% travel.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, or related field
  • 6+ months of mechanical packaging experience or relevant internship experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments

OR

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 4+ years of mechanical packaging experience or relevant internship experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments
  • Must be able to travel 50-60% of the time*

The approximate pay range for this position is $61,000.00 - $85,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
