Job summary

EVONA in Orlando, FL, is seeking an experienced Mechanical / Optomechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical architecture of a space-based LiDAR payload from concept through flight.

You will own precision optomechanical hardware design, working with optical, electrical and software teams to deliver flight-ready space systems, including benches, mechanisms and payload structures.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in mechanical or optomechanical design.
• Experience with spacecraft or optical payloads.
• Strong CAD skills across listed tools.
• Experience with FEA, GD&T, DFM and precision design.
• LiDAR/laser/optical instruments background is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept to flight.
• Design optical benches, assemblies and structures.
• Perform structural, thermal and FEA validation.
• Support TVAC, vibration testing.

Mechanical / Optomechanical Design Engineer – Space Systems

We're partnering with an exciting space technology company developing a next-generation space-based LiDAR payload, and we're looking for an experienced Mechanical / Optomechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical architecture from concept through flight.

You'll own the design of precision mechanical and optomechanical hardware, working alongside optical, electrical and software engineers to deliver flight-ready space systems.

What you'll be doing:

• Lead the mechanical design of a space-based LiDAR payload from concept through AIT.
• Design precision optomechanical assemblies, optical benches, mechanisms and payload structures.
• Perform structural, thermal and FEA analysis to validate designs.
• Support vibration, thermal vacuum (TVAC) and environmental qualification testing.
• Work closely with suppliers, manufacturing and integration teams to deliver flight hardware.

We're looking for engineers with:

• 7+ years of mechanical or optomechanical design experience.
• Spacecraft, satellite or optical payload development experience.
• Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA or similar).
• Experience with FEA, GD&T, DFM and precision mechanical design.
• Background in LiDAR, laser systems, optical instruments, EO/IR, telescopes or other high-precision optomechanical systems is highly desirable.
