You will inspect, adjust, and perform basic electrical checks using precision instruments while following detailed drawings and production controls.

Mechanical Operator I - 2nd Shift (3:30 pm - 12:00 am)

Salary Range: $18.00 To $21.00 Hourly

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for providing effective, efficient high-quality assemblies as required by production work orders; inspecting work and making necessary adjustments to correct difficulties; performing basic electrical checks, using precision measuring instruments to verify work quality; working from detailed drawings, work instructions, specifications and production control documents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Works in a manner that meet s or exceeds est ablished effectivity goals of the facility.
  • Manufactures high-quality products meeting quality specifications and workmanship standards.
  • Performs one or multiple of the following tasks:
    • Surface Preparation:
      • Buffs, polishes, abrasive blasting, and solvent cleaning of metal surfaces.
      • Ultrasonic cleaning/vapor degreasing.
      • High-temperature cleaning.
    • Sandblasting, scribing, ultrasonic cleaning of units, tabing.
    • Etching:
      • Laser and electro-chemical etching of data on metal surfaces.
      • Creation of laser etch template.
      • Preparation of electro-chemical etching stencils.
    • Mechanical Operations:
      • Mechanical parts forming, using manual or automated presses.
      • Pressure parts forming, using compressed gas.
      • Assemble fittings to products.
      • Basic mechanical assembly using fasteners.
  • Inspects your own work and makes adjustments to correct difficulties.
  • Performs basic electrical checks and uses precision measuring instruments to verify work quality.
  • Works from detailed drawings, work instructions, specifications, and production control documents.
  • Possesses basic computer skills; performs data entry for production reporting and attendance, and retrieves information electronically.
  • Ensures proper waste disposal procedures are followed for handling residual and/or hazardous waste.
  • Places waste in the properly labeled container(s).
  • Follows safety procedures; uses proper PPE; attends training and reports any spills.
  • Works safely, performs required housekeeping tasks, and actively participates in all plant safety directives while adhering to all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.
  • Performs trimming strain gauges; performs strain gauge bonding for all standard products and application of tabs.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience is not required.
  • Ability to learn and apply basic technical concepts.
  • Able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers to promote strong working relationships and create an environment focused on teamwork.
  • Flexible with work and job assignments and willing to perform any function as needed.
  • Possess basic computer skills including database software and electronic mail software.
  • Must have 20/20 vision with correction, and no color blindness, steady hands with good dexterity. (Company issued annual eye exam.)
