Job description

The Mechanical Maintenance Technicians performs a wide variety of preventive maintenance, repair, installation, inspection, and operational duties to maintain District facilities, grounds, equipment, and systems in a safe, efficient, and functional condition. Responsibilities may include work involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, roofing, flooring, automotive equipment, security systems, fire alarm systems, grounds maintenance, and related building systems. Depending on qualifications and experience, employees may perform advanced troubleshooting, lead projects, coordinate maintenance activities, oversee contractors, and assist with planning and administration of the District's preventive maintenance program. We are hiring multiple Technicians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and replacements on District facilities and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, flooring, and related building systems.
• Maintain and repair boilers, rooftop HVAC units, pneumatic controls, thermostats, environmental control systems, and associated equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, outlets, controls, and related components.
• Repair plumbing fixtures, piping, valves, leaks, drains, and related systems.
• Perform welding, soldering, brazing, painting, concrete work, glazing, lock repair, and general maintenance tasks.
• Operate and maintain automated energy management and environmental control systems.
• Maintain security and fire alarm systems.
• Maintain school grounds, landscaping, trees, shrubs, playground equipment, and outdoor facilities.
• Operate District vehicles, trucks, tractors, snowplows, snow blowers, salt spreaders, and other maintenance equipment.
• Assist with snow and ice removal operations.
• Complete work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, and related documentation.
• Utilize computerized maintenance management systems and technology tools.
• Coordinate maintenance projects, oversee contractors, and assist with budgeting and planning as assigned.
• Follow all safety policies and applicable regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems. Ability to troubleshoot equipment, read blueprints and schematics, operate maintenance tools and equipment, use computer software for work orders and records, communicate effectively, and work independently or as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. Experience in building maintenance, construction trades, facilities operations, HVAC, mechanical systems, automotive maintenance, or related fields. Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License required. Additional certifications may be required based on assignment.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Ability to lift up to 80 pounds with assistance, work from ladders and lifts, and perform duties indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Exposure to equipment, machinery, heights, and other maintenance-related hazards may occur.
