Job Description Summary

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be a hands-on self-starter, supporting plant production processes to meet safety and operational goals. Work a rotating shift while performing inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of plant equipment in a PSM governed plant.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in all GE initiatives including EHS, HR, Six Sigma, Quality, and computerized maintenance management.
  • Complete maintenance tasks ranging from simple to complex on mechanical, pneumatic, and vacuum systems in a 24-hour PSM facility.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, equipment manuals, procedures, and specifications to determine repair methods.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance including installation and repair of equipment following safe-work practices using hand tools and specialized equipment.
  • Follow procedures to execute preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Accurately document all maintenance actions, parts, and time.
  • Support daily workload and maintenance requirements based on safety, plans, schedules, quality, and production needs.
  • Collaborate with team members and assist other crafts and departments as needed to ensure equipment readiness.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to service production schedules, including emergency work.

Eligibility Requirements

  • 1-3 years of hands-on maintenance experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician in a PSM manufacturing environment.
  • Must complete NCCER Industrial Support Mechanic Certification within 6 months.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts.
  • Must qualify for and use PPE including arc flash, respirators, fall protection, etc.
  • Good mobility, ability to climb stairs/ladders, and work at heights.

Desired Characteristics

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience as an Industrial Mechanic.
  • AA/AS degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanics and component fit for precision maintenance.
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
  • Experience with vacuum pumps, fiber winding, and chemical plants.
  • Proactive, process-oriented, and collaborative work style.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Eligibility for access depends on immigration status and government authorization.
