Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Shelbyville, KY – fully on-site.
Schedule
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
- Night Shift: 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM
Pay Schedule
Weekly.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative, predictive and proactive maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, and servicing of equipment to improve equipment reliability.
- Provide regular maintenance of hydraulics, lubrication of mechanical equipment; demonstrate understanding of types of lubricants and application.
- Perform simple machinist duties, fabrication, and welding.
- Perform commissioning of new systems and integrate into existing administrative controls.
- Read and follow technical diagrams and schematics.
- Have thorough knowledge of lifting and rigging techniques.
- Adhere to all plant environmental, health and safety guidelines, policies and practices.
- Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting and problem‑solving activities to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime.
- Work with the operations group to increase reliability while improving plant performance.
- Understand skills related to pipe fitting including threading pipe, tubing bending and swaging pipe.
- Be familiar with alignment techniques for shafts, conveyors and various other equipment.
- Understand the major parts of a cylinder and how to rebuild them.
- Understand the types and uses of valves and how to rebuild them.
- Operate and maintain various process equipment.
- Have knowledge of the operation, maintenance and detailed troubleshooting abilities of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to troubleshoot equipment by interpreting PLC I/O's.
- Perform other tasks as assigned, permanent or temporary to support efficiency in operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management or manual systems required.
- Two (2) years industrial equipment maintenance experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- MIG, TIG, and stick welding and cutting skills.
- Ability to operate mobile equipment including forklift and burden carriers.
- Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Ability to work under pressure.
