Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions in Valley Green, PA seeks a Reliability Engineer to join the Mezzanine Connector team. The role focuses on mechanical integrity, testing and qualification of electrical connectors for long-term reliability.

Ideal candidates hold an MS/PhD in Mechanical or Materials Science Engineering with 5–10 years of experience and are proficient in Pro/E or SolidWorks, MS Excel, Minitab, and ANSYS. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • MS/PhD in Mechanical/Materials Science Engineering with 5–10 years of experience.
  • Experience with Pro/E and/or SolidWorks.
  • Experience with data analysis software, MS Excel, Minitab would be a plus.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools desirable, ANSYS experience would be a plus.
  • Understand how to replicate international standards for testing.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and electrical connectors.
  • Understand how to perform failure analysis, tolerance analysis, and DFMEA.
  • Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Desire to create and design new products and processes.
  • Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new products and processes via mechanical testing and qualification of electrical connectors and components.
  • Develop test sequences and procedures to determine the long-term reliability of electrical connectors that factor in customer use and application requirements.
  • Process and analyze testing results, and create reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Support the product design effort in mechanical analysis such as tolerance analysis, FEA, materials analysis, failure analysis and creating test plans.
  • Prepare test samples and test requests, design and fabricate test fixtures, interface with test lab technicians.
  • Collaborate with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel, supporting the development and validation of product prototypes through pilot production, as well as interfacing with beta-site customers.

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Integrity Engineer to join our Mezzanine Connector team. The position will be located in Valley Green, PA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with solid modeling tools - Pro/E and/or Solidworks
  • Experience with data analysis software, MS Excel, Minitab would be a plus
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools desirable, ANSYS experience would be a plus
  • Understand how to replicate international standards for testing
  • Understanding of electrical systems and electrical connectors
  • Understand how to perform failure analysis, tolerance analysis, and DFMEA
  • Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical stakeholders
