Job summary

KION Group AG is seeking a Mechanical Installer to join the Installation team on large-scale conveyor projects across the continental United States. The role covers layout, pre-assembly, installation, and run-in of conveyor equipment, including structural steel, platforms, guardrails, rack systems, and air piping.

Ideal candidates have 1–5 years of hands-on installation experience, can read engineered drawings, and are committed to safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
  • Experience reading engineered drawings is required.
  • Physically capable of demanding construction work and lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate layout and pre-assembly of conveyor systems and components.
  • Install header steel, platforms, and structural elements with precision.
  • Assemble and align conveyors, guard rails, racks, and piping.
  • Interpret drawings and assembly instructions to execute plans.
  • Follow safety procedures and LOTO protocols on site.
  • Keep tools and work areas organized and safe.
  • Travel full-time across the U.S. for job sites.
  • Assist and guide less-experienced personnel.

Job description

As a Mechanical Installer, you will join our Installation team supporting large-scale material handling and conveyor system projects across the continental United States. This position is responsible for the layout, pre-assembly, installation, and run-in of conveyor equipment, including structural and header steel, platforms, guardrail, rack systems, and air piping. Successful candidates will bring 1-5 years of hands-on installation experience, the ability to read engineered drawings, and a strong dedication to safety and quality. This role involves 100% travel with extended stays at job sites. It requires working effectively in physically demanding construction environments and guiding less experienced personnel.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $44,800 to $61,600 salary at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

What you will do in this Role:
  • Coordinate the layout and pre-assembly of conveyor systems, ensuring flawless component integration.
  • Install header steel, platforms, structural steel, and various mechanical components with precision.
  • Assemble and align conveyors, guard rails, racks, and ventilation piping (aluminum, copper, black iron).
  • Interpret and work from detailed mechanical drawings, layout diagrams, and assembly instructions to successfully implement project plans.
  • Adhere strictly to safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, and company quality standards to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and work areas organized and in a safe condition.
  • Be ready for a role that requires full-time travel, with extensive trips across the U.S.
  • Physically handle jobsite demands, including lifting at least 50 lbs, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, and walking across large construction sites in various climates and conditions.
What we are looking for:
  • Preferred proficiency in reviewing and comprehending engineered drawings.
  • Are good communicators and are willing to take direction to ensure projects meet stringent standards.
  • Hold at least a high school diploma or equivalent experience, with technical degrees or niche training preferred.
  • Basic Mechanical and Technical Curiosity
  • Can acquire OSHA 10 certification upon hire.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience and knowledge in installing and/or maintaining conveyor equipment is helpful.
  • Some computer experience preferred.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and hand tools are required.
