Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Mechanical Installation Foreman in Grand Rapids, MI to lead 1–3 installers on conveyor systems and support structures across customer sites. Travel 90% within the continental United States, read engineered drawings, and ensure safety and quality on every installation.

You will coordinate plans, supervise tasks, and drive equipment run-in, startup, and troubleshooting while maintaining site documentation and reporting to project leadership.

Qualifications

• Willing to travel 90% within the continental United States.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• OSHA safety training preferred.
• Hands-on experience in mechanical installation of conveyor systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and layouts.
• Able to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Strong safety leadership and situational awareness.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily activities of 1–3 mechanical installers, providing direction and training.
• Participate in daily stand-up meetings and coordinate work plans.
• Execute mechanical installation tasks including conveyor systems, structural steel, platforms, guardrails, and rail systems.
• Install air piping (aluminum, copper, black iron) and support equipment run-in, startup, and troubleshooting.
• Work independently on stand-alone tasks as directed by site leadership.
• Promote safety culture through BBSO, JHA/JSA, and jobsite safety meetings.
• Ensure housekeeping and organization at job sites; perform quality audits.
• Provide daily site status updates to Project Managers and Site Managers; document trip reports.

This role is responsible for executing mechanical installation work, leading small teams, and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity on site. The position plays a critical role in project success by maintaining strong communication with site leadership, proactively identifying issues, and keeping work aligned with project objectives.
