Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 3 for its Denver office. You will perform design, analysis, and coordination across multiple engineering disciplines to meet system requirements for diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and facilities.

The role emphasizes lead tasks on simpler scopes, development of design specifications, and direct engagement with customers from quote through testing, with travel as needed. A bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ related experience are required.

Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer 3 to support our Denver office.

Purpose/Scope Description:

Perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.

Essential Responsibilities:

1) Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision.

2) Act as a lead on less complex tasks and responsible for a portion of a design or section of an analysis or design review.

3) Generate complete design specifications of more complex projects.

4) Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, finance, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.

5) Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.

6) Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.

7) Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.

8) Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.

9) Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.

10) Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in HVAC systems design and associated engineering calculations (e.g. Air-handling systems, HEPA filtered exhaust systems, duct systems, heating and chilled water hydronic piping systems, steam and condensate piping systems, and HVAC system controls).

• Experience sizing and selecting HVAC equipment (e.g. air-handling units, fans/blowers, pumps, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, coils, HEPA filtration systems, dampers, valves, and controls).

• Proficient in editing and writing HVAC construction and equipment specifications.

• Experience using HVAC computer load and design programs such as Trane Trace software.

• Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards.

• Working knowledge of DOE codes.

• Familiar with SMACNA standards.

• Familiar with NFPA standards.

• Familiar with AutoCAD is preferred

• Revit BIM experience is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

HIRING SALARY RANGE:$120K – $140K Annually (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
