Job summary

RQ Construction, LLC is seeking a Mechanical General Laborer to join our Norfolk, VA team. You will perform a wide range of physical labor at construction sites using hand and power tools, support site prep and cleanup, remove debris, and dispose of non-hazardous materials.

Responsibilities may include operating various construction equipment, depending on experience and project needs, while always adhering to safety standards and PPE requirements in line with our mission, vision and values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 1 year of field or trade construction experience required.
• Forklift certification and logistics/warehouse experience a plus.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred; specific safety trainings listed below.

Job description

RQ Construction is seeking a Mechanical General Laborer to join our team located at Norfolk VA.

This position involves performing a wide range of physical labor tasks at construction sites using both hand and power tools. The role focuses on supporting overall site operations, including site preparation and cleanup, removing debris and rubble, and disposing of non-hazardous materials.

The position may also involve operating various types of construction equipment, depending on experience, training, and project needs. All work must be performed using appropriate equipment and in full compliance with established safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), in support of RQ's Mission, Vision, and Values.

Pay Range:

$23.00-28.00 per hour

Qualifications are as follows:

• A high school diploma or GED is the preferred minimum formal education for this position.
• One or more years (or equivalent) field or trade work experience in commercial construction required; government, military, or large commercial construction experience is a plus.
• Forklift certification and logistics/warehouse/residential are a plus.
• CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred; Specific training or certificates in the following preferred:
• Forklift/Manlift training and certificate
• Trenching and shoring training
• Fall protection training
• Scissor lift/boom lift certificate
• OSHA 10-hour
• EM-385 40-hour
