Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a welding supervisor to lead a pipefitting crew, read plans and assign tasks across sites, ensuring safe, high‑quality installations.

You will supervise the workflow, coordinate with trades and guarantee compliance with codes. Requirements include 5–7 years of related experience, TIG and stick welding on stainless and carbon, ability to pass weld tests, and readiness to work outdoors in varied weather.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of related work experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to TIG and stick weld on stainless and/or carbon (pipe size and material welded varies per site).
• Must pass required weld tests (varies per site).
• Must be willing to work outside craft.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
• Utilize basic math and a calculator to solve geometric problems associated with Instrument Fitting.
• May be required to work outside and be subject to severe weather as well.
• Must be able to climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
• Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and criminal background check based on job location/requirements.

Position Description

Responsible for planning, allocating, managing and assigning duties related to welding, pipe insulation, steam fitting, cutting and brazing to subordinates and all those individuals who are appointed to carry on these tasks. Responsible for analyzing work orders and blueprints to determine the need for supplies and sequence of operations required.
