Position Summary

The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial mechanical systems and machinery. This is a hands‑on role that requires mechanical aptitude, precision, and the ability to collaborate with other trades. Millwrights support plant relocations, equipment upgrades, rigging operations, and preventative maintenance activities while ensuring all work meets company and industry standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, position, level, and align industrial machinery, including conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Use precision tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and laser alignment systems.
  • Assist with rigging operations, equipment moves, and plant relocation projects (aligned with company services).
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and perform corrective repairs.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, and equipment assessments.
  • Fabricate or modify parts using cutting, grinding, machining, or welding equipment (reflecting cross‑trade alignment from welding foreman roles).
  • Support mechanical integration of electrical components when collaborating with electrical teams (consistent with electrical foreman content).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and equipment condition.
  • Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
  • Work efficiently within a team of mechanics, riggers, welders, and electricians.
  • Mentor apprentices or less experienced team members when needed.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety standards.
  • Identify hazards, maintain a clean workspace, and use proper PPE.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety audits, and equipment inspections.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
  • Experience with motors, conveyors, pumps, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of NEC, OSHA, and industrial safety standards.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme weather.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Work in noisy, fast‑paced environments with active equipment.
  • 4+ years of millwright or industrial experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% for projects.
  • Ability to read blueprints, mechanical diagrams, and layout drawings.
  • Preferred rigging and forklift certification.
