Job summary

CSI Engineering in Abilene, TX is seeking a Field Inspector I – Mechanical to perform site inspections and verify mechanical installations per project specs and codes. You will support the QC Engineer and collaborate with construction and commissioning teams to ensure safe, compliant execution.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and up to 3 years of related experience, plus familiarity with building mechanical codes and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Inspections of mechanical building systems and adherence to project specs.
• 0–3 years of field inspection or construction experience.
• Familiarity with mechanical codes, drawings and terminology.
• Proficiency with MS Office and standard office practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of HVAC, hydronic and mechanical piping systems.
• Verify installations against IFC drawings, submittals and method statements.
• Ensure compliance with IMC, IBC, ASME B31.1/B31.3, SMACNA, ASHRAE and local codes.
• Assist in preparing inspection checklists, punch lists and daily reports.
