Job summary

Kaleidoscope is seeking a skilled Abaqus FEA Modeler to join our engineering team onsite in Cupertino, CA. You will manage pre-processing steps, define materials, and mesh models, and sometimes run and interpret FEA simulations using Abaqus to support diverse projects.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in finite element modeling, proficiency with NX CAD for geometry prep, and familiarity with ANSA or Hypermesh is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years in finite element modeling with Abaqus CAE.
• Expert-level knowledge of model preparation, meshing, material models, boundary conditions, and load applications.
• Experience with NX CAD software for importing and exporting model geometries.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting and collaborating with team members.
• Valid US work visa, with no export compliance restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed finite element models using Abaqus CAE to simulate mechanical, structural, and thermal performance.
• Pre-process and post-process complex simulations with accurate model setup and meshing.
• Apply expert techniques for high-quality mesh models and scripting for grouping and keywords.
• Troubleshoot and resolve modeling issues to improve convergence and efficiency.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of simulation best practices and FEA advancements.

Mechanical FEA Modeler (Abaqus)

Job Summary: We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Abaqus FEA (Finite Element Analysis) Modelers to join our engineering team onsite in Cupertino CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all pre-processing steps, including geometry clean-up, material definitions, and meshing techniques, as well as occasionally running and interpreting FEA simulations using Abaqus software to support various engineering projects. This role requires in-depth knowledge of finite element modeling, expert skills in FEA model and meshing techniques, and experience with NX CAD software for geometry preparation. Working-level skills in other preprocessors including ANSA and Hypermesh are a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed finite element models using Abaqus CAE software to simulate mechanical, structural, and thermal performance
• Pre-process and post-process complex simulations, ensuring accurate model setup, meshing, and analysis
• Apply expert techniques and best practices for building high-quality mesh models, including manual methods and scripting for element grouping and keywords
• Troubleshoot and resolve modeling issues, refining models to improve convergence and computational efficiency
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of simulation best practices and advancements in FEA technology

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• [MUST HAVE] Minimum of 3 years of experience in finite element modeling using Abaqus CAE
• Expert-level knowledge of model preparation, meshing, material models, boundary conditions, and load applications
• Experience with NX CAD software for importing and exporting model geometries
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills for reporting and collaborating with team members
• Valid US work visa, with no export compliance restrictions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ANSA and Hypermesh
• Background in mechanical design or structural analysis
• Scripting experience (Python or similar) to automate tasks in Abaqus
• Experience modeling composite materials or advanced material properties
• Experience in battery technology
