Merrick & Company seeks a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate or graduate student for a paid Summer 2027 Internship in our Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. Imagine working on rewarding client projects and being exposed to unparalleled training and development opportunities!

The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid‑May through mid‑August 2027, with hands‑on experience in detailed machine design, CREO modeling, material selection, and ASME NQA‑1 quality exposure.

Qualifications

• Graduation date after August 2027 required.
• Enrolled in Mechanical Engineering program (ABET-accredited).
• Currently entering junior year or higher / grad student.
• U.S. Citizenship required for client projects.

Responsibilities

• Gain experience in detailed machine design and fabrication.
• 3D modeling in CREO and drawing creation in CREO.
• Material selection, calculations in Mathcad and CREO Simulation.
• Exposure to ASME NQA-1 quality requirements.

OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company seeks a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate or graduate student for a paid Summer 2027 Internship in our Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. Imagine working on rewarding client projects and being exposed to unparalleled training and development opportunities!

Merrick’s Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands‑on experience for students. Designed as a shorter‑term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they’re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day‑to‑day life at an employee‑owned company.

The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid‑May through mid‑August 2027.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The program allows interns to gain technical experience in detailed machine design and fabrication, 3D modeling in CREO (Pro/Engineer), drawing creation in CREO, material selection, calculations in Mathcad and CREO Simulation, piping systems, and exposure to ASME NQA‑1 quality requirements.

The intern will collaborate with other disciplines, interface with engineers, designers, and clients, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently and in a team environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
• Must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program.
• Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to problem solve.
• Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Creo (strongly preferred), SolidWorks, Revit, CADworx or other 3D modeling packages.
• Previous internship in Mechanical Engineering.
