The role offers structured technical development, with training and coaching from senior Reliability Engineers, and a path toward Reliability Engineering and Asset Care leadership roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics and 2+ years in manufacturing or plant environment.
• Knowledge of mechanical and rotating equipment fundamentals (pumps, compressors, fans, alignment).
• FMEA, MTBF, MOC concepts; field evaluation with Maintenance/Operations.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment issues and recommend repairs, upgrades, and reliability improvements.
• Support pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, piping, and rotating equipment alignment.
• Participate in MTBF analysis, FMEA, RCFA and structured problem solving.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, and Reliability Engineering to prioritize issues by safety and cost.

At Chemours is seeking a Mechanical & Equipment Engineer to join our growing Maintenance and Reliability team. This position will be available at the Delisle Plant in Pass Christian, Mississippi and report directly to the Site Reliability Manager. This is an onsite, plant-facing engineering role focused on supporting mechanical equipment reliability, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. The Mechanical & Equipment Engineer will work closely with Maintenance, Operations, Manufacturing Technology, and Reliability Engineering to resolve equipment issues, improve equipment performance, and support safe and reliable plant operations. The position provides structured technical development, including significant training during the first several months and ongoing coaching from experienced Reliability Engineers. It also offers a strong development path for an engineer interested in progressing into Reliability Engineering, Asset Care, Mechanical Integrity, or other technical leadership opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day mechanical engineering support to Maintenance and Operations by troubleshooting equipment issues, evaluating failures, and recommending repairs, upgrades, and reliability improvements.
• Serve as a technical resource for plant mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, fans, piping systems, and rotating-equipment alignment.
• Support equipment reliability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement initiatives by identifying recurring equipment issues and developing sustainable corrective actions.
• Initiate and support Management of Change (MOC) activities associated with mechanical equipment, maintenance strategies, safety, reliability, quality, and operational improvements.
• Use Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and other equipment-performance information to evaluate reliability, maintenance intervals, and equipment operating risk.
• Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), equipment failure investigations, Root Cause Failure Analysis activities, and structured problem-solving efforts.
• Support Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance activities and partner with inspection resources to understand equipment condition and inspection findings.
• Review preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and identify opportunities to improve maintenance effectiveness and equipment reliability.
• Work closely with Maintenance, Operations, Manufacturing Technology, and Reliability Engineering to prioritize technical issues based on safety, productivity, cost, and quality.
• Provide technical leadership and influence cross-functional teams to implement equipment and process improvements without direct supervisory authority.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering and 2 or more years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing, plant, or industrial environment.
• Working knowledge of mechanical and rotating equipment fundamentals, including pumps, compressors, fans, equipment alignment, and basic vibration-analysis principles.
• Working knowledge of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), equipment reliability concepts, and Management of Change (MOC).
• Ability and willingness to work in an onsite industrial plant environment, including working directly with Maintenance and Operations teams to evaluate mechanical-equipment issues in the field.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, organization, and prioritization skills, with the ability to influence others and manage multiple technical priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a chemical, petrochemical, refining, or other equipment-intensive process-manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with API 510 and API 570 inspection practices, Mechanical Integrity principles, and working with equipment inspection findings or inspection personnel.
• Experience or familiarity with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), preventive and predictive maintenance, and reliability improvement methodologies.
• Experience using SAP or another computerized maintenance management system.
• Familiarity with Power BI, equipment-performance data, and basic data-analysis techniques.

Pay Range (in local currency): $97,843.00 - $152,880.00. Chemours Level: 25. Annual Bonus Target: 8%. The pay range and incentives listed above is a general guideline based on the primary location of this job only and not a guarantee of total compensation. Factors considered in extending a compensation offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, and alignment with market data.
