Job summary

RTX, in collaboration with Collins Aerospace, seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join a multi-disciplinary IPT. You will contribute to CAD modeling, electronics packaging, and thermal/structural analyses for next-generation aerospace systems.

You will gain hands-on experience across design, documentation, testing, and production support while contributing to a safer, more connected world. This internship is onsite in Marlborough, MA.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, PTC Creo, Catia, NX, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Assist hardware IPT with design, analysis and drawings for next generation systems.
• Create 3D CAD models and assemblies.
• Support electronics packaging and thermal/structural analyses.
• Generate and update drawings and documentation.
• Support procurement and production activities.
• Participate in test and evaluation activities.

What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary Integrated Program Team (IPT) consisting of System, Hardware and Software Engineers. Your work can support development of next generation systems, design enhancements, upgrades for existing products, and transition to production efforts. Product areas can include circuit card assemblies, electronic packages, and reflector-type antennas for communications systems. As a hardware team member, intern assignments can span the product development process and include:

• 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) modelling
• Electronics packaging with electrical component selection and evaluation
• Thermal, structural, or other analysis work
• Detailed design of components and assemblies
• Generation and update of drawings and documentation
• Procurement and production support
• Test and Evaluation

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Experience with computer aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, PTC Creo, Catia, NX, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or equivalent

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with PTC CREO CAD tool
• Technical experience through prior internships, prior leadership experience and working in a team environment
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint)
• Experience with the mechanical design and build process
• A minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
