Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern in Washington, DC. You will work with engineers and designers to support multiple projects for public and private clients, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic office setting.

The position is intended for 40 hours per week at the Washington, DC office, with opportunities to apply fundamentals of engineering and collaborate across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
• The candidate should have the ability to report to the office in Washington, DC.
• Some fieldwork may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Building Mechanical Engineers and Designers with reports, design documents, and calculations.
• Perform engineering calculations using HVAC design software and Excel.
• Prepare HVAC and plumbing drawings with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Learn to apply fundamental engineering principles to solve real-world problems.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Participate in Summer Intern Design Project with interns of other building design disciplines.

Your Opportunity

Your Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with and assist Building Mechanical Engineers and Designers to prepare reports, design documents, and calculations.
• Perform engineering calculations using HVAC design software and Excel
• Use AutoCAD and Revit to prepare HVAC and plumbing drawings and details
• Learn to apply fundamental engineering principles to solve real-world problems
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams
• Participate in Summer Intern Design Project with interns of other building design disciplines

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to solve problems using sound engineering judgment, creativity, and innovation
• Strong work ethic and motivation to learn
• Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
• Working knowledge of software programs including AutoCAD MEP and Revit
• Working knowledge of heat transfer calculations
• Commitment to a culture of safety

Education and Experience

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university

Pay Range:

$23.47 - $34.50 Hourly

Pay Transparency:

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary:

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
