Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a civil engineering student intern to assist in routine design tasks under supervision. You will help maintain CAD drawings for piping and instrumentation diagrams and support document control efforts in the Plant Document Room.

The role emphasizes collaboration with engineering staff, development of preliminary design sketches, and gaining practical experience in a professional setting at Hargrove’s facilities in the United States.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering at an accredited university.
  • GPA of 2.7 or above is required.
  • Basic CAD software knowledge and MS Office proficiency are required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining CAD drawings of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s).
  • Assist with control of technical documents in Plant Document Room.
  • Assist with Plant Document Room filing of technical documents.
  • Support engineering staff with development of preliminary design sketches.

What You’ll Be Doing

Job Summary: Generally responsible for assisting in performing routine designs of less complex engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This work will be performed under direct supervision.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Assist with maintaining CAD drawings of HSA piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s).

  • Assist with control of technical documents in Plant Document Room.

  • Assist with Plant Document Room filing of technical documents.

  • Support, as needed, engineering staff with technical drawing(s) development of preliminary design sketches.

Ideal Background

Education: Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master of Science Degree Program in Civil Engineering at an accredited university is required. Structural coursework is required for structural engineering internships or coops.

GPA: 2.7 or above required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Basic knowledge of CAD software, either AutoCAD, Microstation or both.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Begin developing virtual team skills and familiarity with interoffice execution.

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time
