Job summary

Retech Systems LLC in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to assist in designing mechanical and electromechanical assemblies used to manufacture specialized vacuum furnaces. You'll help specify motors, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, actuators, and sensors, and support thermal and mechanical modeling.

Responsibilities include CAD of subassemblies, producing technical evaluations, developing specifications, and supporting the engineering team on various tasks.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience using CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
• Familiarity with FEA and heat transfer analysis.

Assist in the design of mechanical and electromechanical assemblies and components used to manufacture specialized vacuum furnaces. Assist in specifying industrial components including motors, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, electric actuators, and sensors. Assist in the thermal and mechanical modeling and analysis of new and existing designs.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in the Computer Aided Design (CAD) of subassemblies.
• Provide engineering department support by generating high quality, accurate technical evaluations and reports of designs utilizing hand calculations, FEA, or other methods.
• Assist in developing clear and concise engineering specifications for design and/or procurement of subsystems, components, and engineering services.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Good working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Ability to perform heat transfer analysis and energy balance on complex systems.
• Ability to perform calculations for sizing components like pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic/pneumatic cylinders.
• Working knowledge of materials suitable for use in high temperature, corrosive environments.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Education and Experience:

• Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
• Experience using CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor or similarly capable software.

Salary Description

$20 - $23 Per Hour Depending on Experience
