Job description

Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training) About The Role We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to help make it happen. As a Mechanical Engineering Expert, your deep knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and more will directly shape how next-generation AI reasons through complex engineering problems. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and artificial intelligence — without leaving your home.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
  • Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, multi-domain problems spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, fluid dynamics, and material science to rigorously stress-test AI performance
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop detailed, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
  • Audit AI Reasoning — Review AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with standards such as ASME and ISO
  • Refine AI Thinking — Identify flaws in AI reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations — and deliver structured feedback to improve model outputs
Who You Are
  • Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, CAD/CAM, thermodynamics, or manufacturing processes
  • Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical concepts clearly and concisely in writing
  • Highly precise when working with mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous environment
  • No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
  • Experience with data annotation, technical writing, or evaluation systems
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
  • Familiarity with AI or language model evaluation workflows
Why Join Us
  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top AI research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
  • Make a meaningful impact on how AI understands and applies engineering knowledge
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
