Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced mechanical/chemical engineer to design and review nuclear power plant systems, including modification packages, drawings, analyses, specifications, and vendor evaluations. The position emphasizes leadership of engineering teams and client interface.

This role is hybrid, requiring in-office work three days per week, with opportunities to visit client sites and craft cost estimates for client-requested work scopes.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from ABET-accredited program
  • 10+ years of experience in the power industry
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards for nuclear plant mechanical design
  • PE license is beneficial but not required

Responsibilities

  • Design and review nuclear power plant mechanical systems
  • Prepare or review modification packages and drawings
  • Perform engineering analyses and evaluations for plant modifications
  • Prepare technical specs and procurement documents
  • Evaluate vendor bids for plant equipment
  • Lead engineering project teams and interface with clients
  • Visit client offices or plant sites as needed

Job description

Description

You will be involved in nuclear power plant systems design, including preparation or review of:

  • Modification packages for operating nuclear power plants
  • Functional mechanical drawings and/or drawings for nuclear power plant systems
  • Engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems
  • Technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment
  • Vendor bid evaluations for plant equipment
  • Studies and options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants

In addition, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-requested work scopes
  • Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the clientand make presentations related to engineering tasks and status
  • Lead engineering project teams

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.

Compensation Range

$145,310.00 - $222,001.00
