Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced engineer to contribute to nuclear power plant systems design, including modification packages, drawings, analyses, and procurement documents. The role involves reviewing equipment specs, vendor bid evaluations, and options studies to support plant modifications.

The candidate will lead project teams and develop cost estimates, with a hybrid work schedule requiring in-office presence three days per week. PE license is beneficial though not required.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree from ABET-accredited program.
  • 10+ years of experience in the power industry.
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for nuclear plant mechanical design.
  • PE license is beneficial, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Modify packages for operating nuclear power plants.
  • Create or review functional mechanical drawings for nuclear plant systems.
  • Conduct engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications.
  • Prepare technical specifications and procurement documents.
  • Evaluate vendor bids for plant equipment.
  • Study and evaluate options for modifications to operating nuclear power plants.
  • Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client work scopes.
  • Interface with client at offices/sites and present engineering status.
  • Lead engineering project teams.

Job description

Responsibilities

You will be involved in nuclear power plant systems design, including preparation or review of:

  • Modification packages for operating nuclear power plants
  • Functional mechanical drawings and/or drawings for nuclear power plant systems
  • Engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems
  • Technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment
  • Vendor bid evaluations for plant equipment
  • Studies and options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants

In addition, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid‑sized client‑requested work scopes
  • Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the clientand make presentations related to engineering tasks and status
  • Lead engineering project teams

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in‑office work 3 days per week.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, or General Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 10 or more years of experience in the power industry
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations that apply to mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants
  • PE license is beneficial, but not required

Compensation Range

$145,310.00 - $222,001.00
