Job Summary
Drive testing, communications, design, drafting, systems engineering, and related areas for advanced defense and space technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead testing activities: design complex setups, develop custom fixtures, optimize processes, troubleshoot instrumentation, and analyze measurement uncertainties.
- Apply communication expertise: design presentations, write technical documents, and provide guidance on complex challenges.
- Support design of electromechanical actuators, igniters, pressure vessels, solid rocket motors, thrusters, and hot gas valves.
- Create 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings, interpreting GD&T symbols.
- Integrate testing with verification and validation of requirements; develop program plans, acquisition lifecycles, and risk management strategies.
- Manage small projects: basic financial knowledge, team leadership, procurement, and contract management.
- Apply ballistics knowledge: propellant chemistry, combustion principles, grain geometry, and solid propellant manufacturing.
- Develop simple control systems and performance analysis for solid rocket motors.
- Perform CFD, structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis, interpreting results and applying engineering judgment.
- Assist in basic avionics: battery design, harness design, circuit board design, ignition systems, and software design.
Requirements
- 10–15 years of mechanical engineering experience.
- B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering (equivalent experience acceptable).
- Travel up to 10% of the time.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
Preferences
- Rocket motor design and testing experience.
- Current DoD Top Secret SCI clearance.
- M.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering (equivalent experience acceptable).
Benefits
- Base salary range in Nevada: $149,815 – $207,385 USD.
