Job summary

Hallmark Cards is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and implement products, tooling, and manufacturing processes. The role blends hands‑on engineering with cross‑functional leadership, advancing manufacturability and operational efficiency across production and distribution.

The engineer will create detailed drawings and documentation, troubleshoot issues with production and quality teams, and coordinate with operations, supply chain, and vendors to meet milestones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or comparable field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Experience with SAP and/or Manhattan.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Own assigned mechanical design and engineering tasks for products, tooling, and production processes from concept through implementation.
  • Develop performance specifications, design concepts, and future‑state solutions that improve product quality, manufacturability, and operational efficiency.
  • Create and maintain detailed drawings, models, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Support production and quality teams by troubleshooting and resolving design‑and process‑related issues on existing products and equipment.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional activities with operations, quality, supply chain, vendors, and customers to meet project schedules and milestones.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement innovative technologies and strategic partnerships that advance manufacturing and distribution capabilities.

The Mechanical Engineer Will

basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or comparable engineering degree, with a graduation date of Dec 2026
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Experience with equipment and/or building maintenance
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill
  • Experience with SAP and/or Manhattan
  • Project management experience
  • Adept at seeing opportunities to improve upon the status quo and implementing solutions
  • Familiarity with Lean principles

  • This job could be in our production facility in Leavenworth, KS OR our distribution center in Liberty, MO. Relocation assistance will not be provided.
