Job summary

Gravitics is seeking engineers to build space systems across the full product lifecycle, from pressurized structures to tooling, with hands-on design and cross-functional collaboration.

You will own design, work with suppliers and manufacturing, and apply GD&T, loads knowledge, and industry standards. A bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in mechanical or aerospace engineering are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
  • 2+ years of industry experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Familiarity with CAD and Analysis packages such as NX and Simcenter3D.
  • Knowledge of loads such as pressure, vibration, shock, thermal.
  • Strong understanding of drafting standards and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed component and assembly drawings incorporating GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
  • Apply first-order hand calculations to assess and iterate designs quickly.
  • Build finite element models to validate designs for vehicle requirements.
  • Own design, development, and implementation of custom tooling for programs.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing to realize designs; manage schedules and budgets.
  • Track non-conformances and ensure quality of structural hardware.
  • Be the expert for the system from concept to mission control.

About the Role

To build our space systems, we need rockstarsof all experience levelswho can directlywork the full product lifecycle of several challenging assemblies, including pressurized structures, launch adapters, mechanisms,tooling,and more.

Responsibilities
  • Create detailed component and assembly drawings incorporating an understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
  • Apply first-order hand calculations and empirical formulas to assess and iterate on your designs rapidly
  • Build finite element models to assess your designs in detail and analyze your structures to prove they meet the needs of the vehicle
  • Own the design, development, and implementation of custom tooling in support of our programs
  • Work with suppliers and our manufacturing team to make your designs reality. This includes:
  • Managing the schedule/budget for structural hardware that you own
  • Tracking and dispositioning non-conformances
  • Be a reliable expert of your system, from concept tomission control console

Required Attributes
  • Demonstrated past ownership of complex projects.
  • Knowledge of loads such as pressure, vibration, shock, thermal, and how to design for them.
  • 2+ years of industry experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Familiarity with CAD and Analysis packages such as NX and Simcenter3D or similar.
  • Strong understanding and application of drafting standards and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) in creating drawings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.

  • A proven history of successful hardware in launch vehicles or space systems.
  • Experience working with safety critical systems, pressure vessels, docking/berthingand/or deployment mechanisms.
  • Experience with writing and executing on structural test plans
  • Deep working knowledge in analysis of welds and other joints,design for manufacturability,and heat treat properties.
