Reliant Systems, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead development of electro-mechanical motion control devices with sub-micron precision.

You will design precision motion stages in 3D CAD, generate models and drawings, and perform analysis, simulation, and studies under a senior Engineer. Responsibilities include prototyping and production builds, documenting design packages, and collaborating with supervision.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in mechatronics systems or equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience with mechanical design for electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Experience with FEA.
• Experience designing linear or rotary electro-mechanical actuators.
• 3D CAD experience; SolidWorks preferred.
• Ability to read precision hand tools.
• Strong teamwork and leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Job Description General Description: The Mechanical Design Engineer position will lead development of new electro-mechanical motion control devices with sub-micron precision, will be responsible for designing precision motion stages in 3D CAD software, generating models and drawings, and performing analysis, simulation, and studies under the guidance of a senior Engineer. The Mechanical Design Engineer will also assist with prototyping and production builds. Successful candidates will be able to design linear and rotary systems across a range of sizes and performance specifications.

This Is Accomplished Through The Following Essential Functions

• Design precision motion stages in 3D CAD software, generating models and drawings.
• Perform analysis, simulation, and studies.
• Prototyping and production builds.
• Document design packages.
• Maintain constant communication with supervisor about job progress.
• Clean and maintain cleanliness of work area.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.

Work Experience & Knowledge Requirements

• 2+ years’ experience applied to mechatronics systems or educational equivalent.
• 2+ years’ experience with mechanical design as it relates to electro-mechanical assemblies or educational equivalent.
• Experience with FEA.
• Experience with linear or rotary electro-mechanical actuator design.
• 3D CAD experience, Solidworks is ideal.
• Experience in teamwork and team building.
• Ability to work with and read precision hand tools (e.g., digital or dial calipers, digital or dial micrometers, electronic or dial indicators, and torque wrenches).
• Established engineering knowledge in the application and development of analytical solutions to complex engineering problems.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude with good understanding of machine design, motion control, metal fabrication and finishing.
• Experience and proficiency with MS Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
